Atmospheric Wedding Lighting
The Tri-Cities anchor of East Tennessee has a working-town honesty to its best event spaces — brick, timber, and river stone that warm light makes genuinely beautiful.
The Approach
Johnson City occupies the Watauga River valley at the foot of the Cherokee National Forest — a city that built itself on manufacturing, medicine, and the railroad, and whose most interesting wedding venues reflect that honest material history. The repurposed industrial buildings and historic civic spaces in Johnson City have brick walls of a particular vintage that warm uplighting brings forward in a way that newer construction cannot match. I design for these spaces with the understanding that the architecture is the attraction, and lighting's job is to make it undeniable.
The Tri-Cities metropolitan area — Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol — sits at the intersection of Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina, drawing wedding couples from a wide regional catchment. The venue mix spans urban industrial conversions, mountain lodges on the Cherokee National Forest boundary, and historic properties in Bristol's antique downtown.

“The room your guests walk into sets the tone for every moment that follows. That’s not decor. That’s light.”
Dan's Events / Lighting
Warm white and white only. Restraint is what reads as elegant in the room — and timeless in every photograph.
Warm light is universally flattering. Guests, gowns, flowers, skin — everything looks its best under our design.
Your photographer is only as good as the light we leave them. We give them a room already worth shooting.
Favorite Venues
Every space has its own character. I design the light to match — not override — what the venue already offers.
Johnson City, TN
An elegant private club venue with formal reception rooms and refined finishes — warm uplighting on the plaster walls achieves a formal hotel ballroom quality without the anonymity of a franchise property.
Johnson City, TN
A 1929 boutique hotel recently restored with period detailing and a ballroom whose coffered ceilings and milled millwork turn warm uplighting into something that reads as architectural intention.
Johnson City, TN
A municipal lakeside park with a pavilion venue — outdoor lighting here frames the lakefront setting and defines the event space against the treeline, using the natural boundary as a backdrop rather than a distraction.
Jonesborough, TN
A timber-frame pavilion on a working farm outside Jonesborough, Tennessee's oldest town — warm amber lighting on the rough-hewn timber and stone accent walls feels as natural as the surrounding landscape.
Bluff City, TN
A country estate event space with mountain views and a timber-accented interior — warm lighting on the wood and stone detailing here achieves depth from a relatively modest fixture count.

Yes. The entire Tri-Cities metropolitan area — Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol on both the Tennessee and Virginia sides — falls within my standard East Tennessee service area. Venues in Abingdon, Virginia, just over the state line, are also reachable at the same travel rate.
Industrial conversions in Johnson City typically feature exposed brick, structural steel, and original mill-era timber — all of which respond beautifully to warm uplighting. A standard installation includes full-perimeter uplighting at the wall base, beam accent fixtures directed at structural elements, and a composed focal point for the first dance. Every design is drawn from the specific dimensions and materials of your room.
