Your Lake Lure Wedding,
Elevated

Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are two of the most cinematic wedding destinations in all of North Carolina. Made famous by Dirty Dancing, this Hickory Nut Gorge corridor pairs a shimmering mountain lake with dramatic rock formations and lush gorge scenery — and it's only about 30 miles from Asheville. I've worked venues throughout this area and know exactly how to match the energy of a lakeside celebration to the magic of the setting. From intimate ceremonies on a riverside deck to full-scale receptions at a lakefront resort, I bring the same craft I bring everywhere: a crowd-reading eye, a tamada's instinct for connecting people, and a commitment to making your reception feel like the night everyone talks about for years.

The Hickory Nut Gorge stretches from Chimney Rock to Lake Lure and beyond, offering an extraordinary range of wedding backdrops — a glassy lake surrounded by mountains, the soaring 535-foot Chimney Rock pinnacle, the rushing Broad River, and meadow farms tucked into the foothills. The area sits at the crossroads of Rutherford and Henderson Counties, with Bat Cave, Burnt Chimney, and Rutherfordton all within a short drive. Whether you envision a lakefront ceremony at sunset or a mountain-view celebration under the stars, this corridor delivers scenery that no ballroom can replicate.

FAQ

How far is Lake Lure from Asheville?

Lake Lure is about 30 miles from Asheville — roughly 45 to 55 minutes depending on the route. I'm based in Asheville, so travel to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock is included in all standard packages. There's no extra travel charge for venues in this corridor.

Have you performed at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock venues before?

Yes — I've worked at multiple venues throughout the Hickory Nut Gorge area, including Rumbling Bald and other lakeside properties. Even for newer venues, I do a site visit before every wedding to learn the space, the acoustics, and the layout so there are no surprises on your big day.

What's unique about DJing a lakeside or gorge wedding?

Outdoor lakeside venues have their own acoustic dynamics — open water and mountain walls can scatter or amplify sound in unexpected ways. I bring professional line-array speaker setups specifically configured for outdoor environments, so your guests hear everything clearly whether they're on a terrace, a lawn, or a riverside deck.

Do you serve as MC as well as DJ?

Absolutely — and in many ways the MC role is where I shine most. My background as a tamada (the Eastern European tradition of a dedicated wedding host) means I'm trained to be the emotional anchor of your celebration. I introduce toasts, guide transitions, keep energy high between dances, and make sure every guest feels part of the evening — not just a spectator.

Can you handle ceremony music at an outdoor venue like Lake Lure?

Yes. I handle the full arc of your wedding day — ceremony processional and recessional, cocktail hour background music, dinner ambiance, and the reception dance floor. One person, one vision, zero handoff confusion. I coordinate with your officiant and photographer so every moment lands exactly when it should.
