The property and its spaces
The two ceremony sites are the Lake site, set on the community's private beach with Lake Lure and Bald Mountain behind you, and a newer Mountain site that overlooks the Bald Mountain Golf Course. Both are listed for up to 170 guests.
For the reception, the Lakeview Terrace is covered and open, with 180 degree views. The resort has custom transparent panels that close the openings against wind and rain, plus heaters for cool evenings. A bridal suite and groom's dressing room come with the Terrace.
Sound and hosting at Rumbling Bald
An open-air terrace has no walls to bounce sound back, so everything has to come from the speakers. I place them to cover the whole seating area, and I plan for the lake breeze that carries voices away. For the ceremony I use a wireless mic on the officiant and a small speaker pair at the front, and I do a sound check before guests arrive.
The resort limits a weekend ceremony to one hour and a reception to four hours, with extra time available at an hourly rate, so I schedule your night to fit: ceremony, cocktail hour, grand entrance, dinner, toasts and dancing, with firm cues. I did not find a published amplified music cutoff, so I ask the wedding sales team.
Lighting, power and effects
The Terrace's best feature is the view, and lights can fight it. I keep fixtures low and warm, wash the structure softly and let the lake and mountains hold the background until dark. When panels close, the room becomes a more traditional reception space and I add beam lights over the dance floor.
Fog drifts away in an open-air space, so I plan it for the enclosed setup with the panels closed, and it needs a dedicated 30 amp circuit. I send the resort a power plan. The resort does not publish a fog or sparkler rule that I found, so I confirm with the venue and get approval in writing.

Planning notes for couples
The resort requires in-house catering and bar, and it keeps a vendor list but charges no fee for vendors outside the list. Its best season is mid-April through mid-November.
Ask about the panel plan and weather call for the Terrace, the load-in route to the Terrace, and the drone rule if you want aerial photos.
