Atmospheric Wedding Lighting
The Hub City's textile mill bones and its newer arts-driven core are built from the same honest brick — and warm light makes both of them remarkable.
The Approach
Spartanburg's wedding venue landscape has transformed alongside the city's own revitalization — old mill buildings repurposed as event spaces, historic downtown properties restored to their original formal intent, and suburban estate venues that draw on the county's agricultural and equestrian heritage. The common thread across all of these is brick: Spartanburg was built on textiles, and textiles were built on brick, and warm white uplighting on the particular red-orange clay brick of the South Carolina Piedmont produces a richness of color and texture that cannot be found anywhere else. I design for these spaces with that material quality as the primary visual objective.
Spartanburg County sits between Greenville and Charlotte, close enough to both markets to draw on a large regional wedding clientele while maintaining its own identity. The venue options here span urban loft spaces in the Morgan Square district to estate properties in the Woodruff and Duncan corridors, all accessible within a short drive of I-85 or I-26.

“The room your guests walk into sets the tone for every moment that follows. That’s not decor. That’s light.”
Dan's Events / Lighting
Warm white and white only. Restraint is what reads as elegant in the room — and timeless in every photograph.
Warm light is universally flattering. Guests, gowns, flowers, skin — everything looks its best under our design.
Your photographer is only as good as the light we leave them. We give them a room already worth shooting.
Favorite Venues
Every space has its own character. I design the light to match — not override — what the venue already offers.
Spartanburg, SC
A repurposed automobile showroom in the urban core with original terrazzo floors, large plate windows, and a clean industrial aesthetic where warm white uplighting reads as contemporary rather than rustic.
Spartanburg, SC
A civic arts complex with gallery and event spaces featuring polished concrete, white walls, and variable ceiling heights — warm white lighting here achieves a gallery-quality finish that flatters both the architecture and the guests.
Spartanburg, SC
A renovated Piedmont textile building with exposed brick, arched windows, and rough timber that warm amber uplighting elevates from industrial-ordinary to something deliberately atmospheric.
Spartanburg, SC
A colonial-era plantation complex with formal gardens and period outbuildings — warm lighting on the stone and brick structures here honors the site's age and formality without anachronism.
Spartanburg, SC
A country estate venue on the Spartanburg fringe with manicured grounds and a large-format event pavilion — warm lighting in the pavilion creates an atmosphere proportional to the scale of the space.

Spartanburg mill buildings tend to have high ceilings, original masonry walls, and limited pre-existing fixture infrastructure — which is actually ideal for a clean lighting installation, since there are fewer competing light sources to manage. The brick quality in this region is particularly rich, and warm uplighting on it produces excellent results from relatively modest fixture counts.
Yes. I serve the entire Upstate South Carolina corridor — Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson, and the surrounding counties — under the same travel structure. Couples with venues between the two cities benefit from the fact that I'm already in the region for events in both markets.
