The castle, the lawn and the Great Hall
The venue sits on Shook Cove Road in Tuckasegee. Ceremonies happen on the Mountain View Lawn, set in front of a Blue Ridge backdrop. Receptions are in the Great Hall, which the venue describes as having outstanding acoustics for live music and dancing.
A third space, Mill Pond Pavilion, is about a mile from the castle inside Bear Lake Reserve. The venue uses it for welcome parties, rehearsal dinners and send-off brunches. Three private suites with en suite bathrooms handle getting ready.
Sound and hosting at the castle
A lawn ceremony on a mountainside is mostly an outdoor sound job: wind, open air and guests spread along the rows. I put small speakers near the front, give the officiant a clean mic, and test from the back row before anyone arrives.
The Great Hall changes the job. A room praised for its acoustics is also a room where a mix can get muddy if the speakers are too loud, so I keep the sound controlled and let the room carry the voices during toasts. I host the night from there: grand entrance, toasts, first dance and open floor. Because the Mill Pond Pavilion is a separate place, I can also host a rehearsal dinner or welcome party there if you want one voice across the whole weekend.
Lighting, power and effects here
For the Great Hall I plan warm white lighting that shapes the room instead of repainting it: wash lights on the walls and ceiling, a spotlight for the entrance and first dance, and low fog for the dance floor if the room allows it.
Fog needs its own dedicated 30 amp circuit because the machine draws up to 3,000 watts for about five minutes at warm-up. Lights and sound run on 20 amp circuits. Castle Ladyhawke does not publish its electrical layout or any rule on fog, cold sparks or open flame, so I ask for a walk-through, send a power plan, and get effects approved in writing before the date.

Planning notes for couples
The venue keeps a Preferred Vendors List, and vendors new to the castle must provide proof of insurance. The FAQ does not mention DJs or lighting specifically, so ask the team how outside entertainment fits your package. You also provide Day of Event liability insurance no later than 30 days before the event.
For lodging, Bear Lake Reserve is under two miles from the castle's front gate with over 40 rental homes, and guests may get 10 percent off nightly rates. The castle can host the couple overnight. The venue does not publish a rain plan, so ask about the Great Hall as a backup for the lawn.
