The property and its spaces
Each setting is a different kind of room, so I plan sound and light for one space at a time instead of bringing a single setup to all of them. The resort describes its wedding settings as ranging from ballrooms to terraces and sun-dappled gardens. Piermont Cottage is the largest outdoor option: a grand lawn, a smaller ceremony lawn and a stone terrace with a built-in bar.
Springhouse works for a reception of up to 120 in the main room, with a bar and terrace for up to 150. Hutchinson House suits a smaller wedding of around 50. Half-Mile Farm is a separate property, with an open-sky ceremony among fields and a lake.
Sound and hosting at Old Edwards
In a small mountain town like Highlands I plan sound for clarity, not volume. On a lawn I use several small speakers spread around the seating so no one speaker has to be loud, and a wireless mic on the officiant. On a terrace I aim speakers into the guests and away from the building.
I did not find a published amplified music rule or end time for the resort, and third-party listings disagree about the cottage. So I ask the sales office for the current rule at your chosen venue, and I build your timeline around it with the planner the resort assigns.
Lighting, power and effects
A lawn at dusk wants warm white light from low angles on the guests, plus soft light on the trees. On the stone terrace I use the existing warmth and add beams over the dance area. I keep the palette warm white unless you ask for color.
Low fog needs its own dedicated 30 amp circuit, and an outdoor lawn rarely has one near the dance floor, so I ask early about power and generators. I did not find a published fog or cold spark rule for Old Edwards, so I confirm with the resort and get approval in writing.

Planning notes for couples
Piermont Cottage is listed as available May through October. Ask about the rain plan for each lawn and where the move indoors happens. Also ask which sound and lighting needs the resort handles itself, and what it expects from outside vendors on load-in and insurance.
The resort changed ownership in June 2024, and the properties continue to operate. Confirm current venue names and capacities with the sales office, since the listings I found do not always match.
