The property and its spaces
The barn has three large windows at the front, glass French doors down both sides and a wall of windows at the back. Inside, the walls are whitewashed and the ceiling is outlined with natural cedar beams, with chandeliers overhead.
Outside, a stone-gray paver patio looks over the lake, and two covered areas with string lights sit on either side of the barn. A lit path leads to a circular hydrangea garden and a small lakeside meadow, and a larger meadow with a wheat field lies behind the venue.
Sound and hosting at Heyward Manor
I hosted a wedding here in May 2026 with sound, DJ mixing and cold sparklers for the grand exit.
All that glass and white wall is lovely, but hard surfaces make a room bright with sound. I keep speakers off the walls, aim them into the crowd and set levels at the sound check with the room empty and again once the guests arrive. For the ceremony I decide with you whether to use the house speakers or my own, depending on where you stand: on the patio by the lake, or inside the barn.
The covered areas and the patio make cocktail hour easy to run outdoors, then I move guests into the barn with a short announcement and a clear cue for the grand entrance.
Lighting, power and effects
The venue lists down lighting and string lighting in the covered areas and chandeliers inside. I add warm white wash and a few beam lights so the cedar beams show and the dance floor feels like a place, not a hallway. After dark the big windows turn into mirrors, so I keep lights from pointing at the glass.
Low fog needs its own dedicated 30 amp circuit, and lights and sound run on ordinary 20 amp circuits. I send a power plan listing what I need and where. Cold sparks need venue permission. Heyward Manor does not publish a fog or sparkler rule that I found, so I get approval in writing for each wedding.

Planning notes for couples
The venue lists a catering kitchen, a bridal suite with a balcony and a groom's room. I did not find on-site lodging on the venue's site, so plan where your guests will sleep.
If you want a lakeside ceremony and a barn reception, tell me early so I can plan one clean move of the sound gear and a backup for rain.
